BELDON Roofing Company Accepts First for Low-Slope – Re-Roofing Category in Sika Sarnafil’s Competition
BELDON Roofing Company is honored to have been awarded First Place in the Low-Slope – Re-Roofing Category of Sika Sarnafil’s 2017 Project of the Year Competition for our work on the HEB Retail Service Center in San Antonio, TX. Sika Sarnafil is a leading manufacturer of thermoplastic roofing systems and waterproofing membranes. Each year, Sika Sarnafil recognizes roofing companies that have demonstrated outstanding achievement in the application of their roofing and waterproofing systems. The awards were presented on February 5, 2018, during the International Roofing Expo in New Orleans, LA, and CEO Brad Beldon accepted the award.
The HEB Retail Service Center is a massive 1.27 million-square-foot facility, and its roof was in need of extensive repairs due to severe hail damage. This facility is in operation 24/7 and houses a dry goods warehouse, milk plant, ice cream plant, and cold storage warehouse among other specialty concerns. So, time was of the essence to ensure that this roof was repaired correctly to maintain the integrity of the products stored within. What’s more, access to the edge of the roof was limited due to the entire perimeter of the service center being lined with dock doors. But perhaps the greatest challenges faced by BELDON® in completing this project were the numerous ammonia, condensate, and electrical lines, as well as mechanical equipment on the roof itself.
However, BELDON Roofing Company is always up for a challenge and we excelled at the task. We successfully installed a Sarnafil 80 mil S 327 membrane in only six months, all while plant operations continued as normal. We are proud that Sika Sarnafil recognized not only the complexity of the project, but also our commitment to installing the manufacturer’s roofing system correctly.
