Step One: Know Thy Roof

Step Two: Inspect Your Roof

At least annually—though twice yearly is better—have your BELDON® Roofing Company representative walk the roof with you, pointing out and logging trouble spots. The beginnings of a leak can often be repaired in quick order; neglected roofing becomes very expensive and time-consuming to repair.

Step Three: Keep it Clean

During semi-annual inspections, take time to remove debris, litter, organic material and wind-borne debris from your roof. This simple step provides flat roof protection by reducing blunt impact, punctures and opportunistic plant growth.

Step Four: Avoid Steps

Flat roof protection means keeping physical contact to a minimum. Every vendor or worker whose boots disturb your roof is another opportunity for a leak to develop. Friction is your enemy:

  • From tools and boots
  • From HVAC or other equipment dragged across your roof during repair or installation
  • From wind-tossed cables chafing against the membrane

Control access and keep a logbook of who goes on your roof, for what purpose, and for how long.
